While we focus mostly on using miles and points for your Disney vacations, there’s always tons of Disney news that we find interesting or relevant. We hope to share some of our favorite articles from around the web from time to time. Got an article you think we should read? E-mail us at email@example.com or connect with us on Twitter!
This was a big week, as Disney moved to its new date based ticket pricing. Here are some of the articles we found interesting and a couple of other Disney related news items.
Date Based Ticket Pricing for Walt Disney World Debuts (via Touring Plans)
Normally when stuff like this comes up, I go straight to Touring Plans for breakdown and analysis. Touring Plans has done a good job of breaking down Disney’s date based ticket pricing and how it will affect you. They also have a couple other posts about how it might affect crowds and how the prices compare to previous years. In off times, you may actually save something.
You can also check out my thoughts on the Disney ticket changes on my personal blog asthejoeflies.
Ticket Prices have (Mostly) Increased at Disney World (via Disney Tourist Blog)
Disney Tourist Blog is another of our go to sites. A lot more pricing breakdowns and a nice, slightly grumpy tone that I enjoy :). There are also a lot of gems in the comments that are worth checking out. For my money, I expect another price increase in February 2018 (the “normal” annual price increase). We’ll see.
Aulani, a Disney Resort that Speaks with Deep Messages (via Luxe Recess)
We’re considering taking a trip to Aulani, and coincidentally Robin from Luxe Recess posted her review this week. I always appreciate Robin’s reviews and beautiful pictures, although she usually stays in places a little outside of my budget! Still, we’re considering splurging (and even after miles and points hacking it will still be a splurge) for Aulani. By we, I mean, I am forcing my wife to let me, haha. Enjoyed Robin’s review and it just made me want to throw more money at Disney.
Are cash back cards the new airline cards? (via Frequent Miler)
While this post might be a bit too in the weeds for beginners, it gave me a lot of food for thought. Not Disney related, but if you get more into miles and points to fund your Disney vacations, you’ll start having internal debates between whether cashback, transferable miles, or airline miles are worth more. I’ve moved from cashback => airline miles => cash equivalents over the course of my miles and points history and I always appreciate a thoughtful analysis of the push and pull between cashback and miles.
